Stomp Out Stigma and Photo Campaign

October 3, 2016 @ 7:00 am - 9:00 am

Oct 2-Oct 9 is Mental Illness Awareness Week!
Monday-Wednesday, come Stomp Out Stigma (with Bubble Wrap) with Rethink: Psychiatric Illness!

The language and words we use can have a great impact on those around us even when we think they do not. Mental illness is still heavily stigmatized by many of the words and phrases that people use day to day such as: “psycho”, “OCD”, “insane”, “bipolar weather” etc. Many of these words and phrases contribute to a negative understanding and misrepresentation which adversely affects many of the millions of people with mental illnesses across the country. Join Rethink: Psychiatric Illness in combatting these words and phrases by physically stomping on them (with bubble wrap), symbolizing a commitment to end the stigmatization of mental illness and advocating for mental health.

After helping to stomp out stigma, pose with your friends and pledge to be a mental health advocate by joining the Rethink photo campaign. We hope to see you there!
