Many people feel powerless in our current political climate, so Phi Sigma Pi and Carolina Advocates for Gender Equality would like to encourage students to remain politically informed and engaged. Your voice does not end with your vote.
The best way to influence your representatives is through a phone call, but this can be an intimidating process. To help, we will be hosting a campus-wide Call-A-Thon this upcoming Monday, January 30 from 12-3 pm in the Carolina Union. The purpose of this event is to provide a venue for students to contact our senators, Thom Tillis and Richard Burr, about upcoming cabinet confirmation votes, the EPA, the ACA, or any other issue that is important to you. We will also provide contact information for other representatives in North Carolina.
Don’t know what to say? Don’t worry. We will be providing scripts, lots of information, and food! Participation in the event will be on a drop-in basis, and the price of food is simply your phone call.
In addition, we will be posting resources on this page for ways to stay politically engaged. We hope that, regardless of political affiliation, you will walk away from this event feeling that you have a voice.
