Gideon’s Army (Documentary Screening)

Join CJAA in the Campus Y to watch HBO’s documentary, Gideon’s Army. This gripping documentary explores the lives and work of public defenders, attorneys in an underfunded and underappreciated system.

Wednesday 3/1:

Immigration Justice Panel

Engage with local experts on the most pressing issues regarding immigration justice: detention centers, the Muslim ban, the ethics of immigration policy, and more! Cohosted by the UNC Muslim Student Association.

Thursday 3/2:

Mariposa & the Saint: From Solitary Confinement, a Play Through Letters

7-10 pm

Union Auditorium

Join us in the Union Auditorium for this nationally renowned play, which follows Mariposa who, in 2012, was sentenced to fifteen months in solitary confinement. The play has been touring nationally as an outreach and educational tool to end long-term solitary confinement in U.S. prisons. The play will be followed by a conversation with activists, lawyers, etc.

A Night of Artivism

6:00 – 8:00 pm

Union Aquarium Lounge

Finish your week with a night of artivism. Spoken Word! Singer-songwriters! Music! Poetry! Art! And, social Justice all in one. Performances will feature EROT, UNC Wordsmiths, Harmonyx, Cadence, and more.
