The Campus Y has been a hub for social justice at UNC-Chapel Hill for 160 years. Since its establishment in 1860, the Y has grown among the largest and most vibrant student organizations at UNC-Chapel Hill, with more than 2,000 student volunteers each year. The Y houses over 30 student social justice committees that focus on particular social and environmental justice issues in the areas of Community Inclusion, Education and Youth Development, Public Health, Global Issues, and Advocacy. The Y has provided leadership and professional skills development to thousands of Carolina students and alumni and shaped the character of the campus for generations.
